Cempaka Perhentians

Pulau Perhentian (Perhentian Island) located to the north-eastern off coast of Terengganu which is comprises two islands - Perhentian Besar (Big Perhentian) and Perhentian Kecil (Small Perhentian). Perhentian Kecil attracts many visitor especially backpackers because it has many cheaper accommodation while Perhentian Besar more expensive and caters more to families.

From November to February not suitable time to visit this island due the monsoon season because the sea is rough, during this monsoon season many hotel and chalet are temporary closed their operation until early March.

1. BY FLIGHT - u can take flight either Malaysia Airlines (http://www.malaysiaairlines.com/) or Airasia (http://www.airasia.com/) from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Bahru, because this is the closest airport to Kuala Besut Jetty (Main Jetty to Perhentian Island). From Kota Bahru airport u can take taxi to Kuala Besut Jetty. Airport taxi to Kuala Besut jetty at RM76/car/way. By mini van at RM30/person/way and by Limo at RM180/car/way. From Thai Borders, u can take taxi direct to Kuala Besut jetty with fare RM60/car. U also can landed at Kuala Terengganu airport and then take taxi to Kuala Besut jetty about RM90/taxi/way.

2. BY BOAT - From Kuala Besut Jetty u have 2 options either take speed boat or slow boat. Fast boat from Kuala Besut to Perhentian Island usually start from 9.00a.m to 5.00p.m. Actually on Kuala Besut haven't regular time for departure. The boat will depart to the island when enough passenger. Leaving time for the fast boat from Perhentian island at 8.00a.m, 12.00noon and 4.00p.m (fare around RM35 per way and take aroun 30 - 40 minutes). When heading to the island by boat and plan to go to Long beach or Coral beach, u must take small boat (taxi boat) from the main boat to the beach because this area don't have any jetty (must around RM2/person).

3. BY TRAIN - u can take train (http://www.ktmb.com.my/) at KL Sentral Station or Singapore for east-coast line at stop either at Tanah Merah station or Wakaf Baru station. Here easily u can get taxi to Kuala Besut Jetty. Taxi cost around RM50 - RM60/way.

4. BY BUS - U can take Bus Express from either K.L (Hentian Putra) or Penang (Butterworth / Sungai Dua Station) or other places and stop at Jerteh bus stand, from there u can take taxi ( RM20.00/car-early morning @ night, RM10.00/car day time) or bus (RM1.50/person) ride to Kuala Besut. If u from Kuala Terengganu, u can take Bus to Kuala Besut with fare RM7.50/person which take 3 hours or take taxi from Kuala Terengganu which take 1 1/2 hours. From Kota Bharu Bus stand ( north ), you can take bus straight to Kuala Besut. Only RM5.10/person. From Singapore you can take bus (Transnasional) direct to Jerteh and get taxi to Kuala Besut jetty.

1. Snorkeling - Here snorkeling is very cheap about RM40/person, this includes the snorkel, mask, fins and life jacket. The 5 spots will include Shark Point, Coral Garden and Turtle Bay. The whole trip usually takes about 5 hours, which starts at 10.30 am.

Many of smaller resort on this island already offer meals as part of inclusive in packages, For Perhentian Kecil (Small Island) - have Panorama Restaurant, Lily's, Bubu Long Beach, Palm tree Cafe, Linda's cafe, Matahari Restaurant etc. On Perhentian Besar (Big Island) - have New Coconut Restaurant, Tuna Bay Restaurant, Abdul Chalet's Restaurant etc.

At perhentian island have many option accommodation from budget to expensive. Here are list for accommodation but not cover all accommodation on island, The price maybe change due high or low season.
